Europe's most qualitative MMA promotion is coming to Malmö

Superior Challenge will be held on October 6, 2012 in Malmö Arena. This is the first time a major international MMA promotion is held in this region.


The demand for the sport of MMA has increased markedly in Sweden and Scandinavia in recent years. The event is intended for sports fans and business visitors who enjoy high-quality full-adrenaline sports entertainment.

Superior Challenge has been held seven times earlier and is the most qualitative MMA promotion in Europe. The organization has some of the world's top MMA athletes and is one of five events in the world with top 20 ranked fighters. Visitors can experience large international stars and local heroes compete in Europe's largest "full-size" cage, which is over 12 meters in diameter with 80 sq.m. mat.

Malmö Arena is a top modern venue. It was built approximately three years ago and holds around 10 000 spectators. The city of Malmö is Sweden’s third largest city, only a few minutes by train from Copenhagen and close to the rest of the continent.

Desired ticket release for the first MMA show in Malmö

Today on February 27th tickets will be released for Superior Challenge Malmö. It is the first time an MMA show is held in Malmö Arena. The organization wants as many people as possible to take part of the sport, and thus offers everyone a 15% discount on all tickets for the first week.

Superior Challenge, Europe’s most qualitative MMA promotion, will produce the first MMA show ever in Malmö Arena, on October 6 this year. The organization has strategically chosen Malmö because of population in the region of Öresund and its proximity to Copenhagen in Denmark. Other aspects that weighed heavily in the decision was the new super modern Malmö Arena, and the partner Öresundsgruppen’s local knowledge. This is the first time a major international MMA event is held in southern part of Sweden.

The promotion has chosen prices that will suit all tastes and budgets, to give everyone the opportunity to take part in this adrenaline-filled sport. The price span starts from the cheapest 145 SEK to the most expensive 1495 SEK (regular prices). There will be VIP and Business packages, and Lodges available for connoisseurs. The tickets will be sold through Ticnet in Sweden, and in Billetnet in Denmark.

Title Fight of the Titans
Superior Challenge 8 announces the organization's first light heavyweight title fight. The home fighter and the crane from Rosengard, Ilir Latifi, will test his strength against the merited anarchist, Jeff Monson, on October 6 at Malmö Arena.





The hometown favourite fighter Ilir Latifi, 6-2-0-1, faces his biggest challenge ever when he takes on Jeff Monson, 45-13-0, for Superior Challenge's light heavyweight title. Ilir is one of Scandinavia’s most promising MMA athletes, and he has created a name for himself by his tremendous strength and exciting fighting style. The Albanian Swede has a background in Wrestling, which is quite obvious while watching his fights where he lifts up and "slams" over hundred kilo opponents like rag dolls time after time. He will stand face to faced against his career’s toughest opponent on October 6:th in his hometown Malmö in Sweden.


Jeff Monson got his nickname "The Snowman" during ADCC 2009. He is one of the world's most experienced MMA athletes and is considered one of the sport's foremost grapplers. Despite his aggressive, and muscular appearance, he is well educated and a Psychologist by profession. He is also politically very active and promotes passionately his version of anarchy. Monson has fought the sport's absolute top elite during his 14 years as a pro, and has competed in the world’s largest promotions. He usually competes as heavyweight, and is ranked 36:th in the world rankings.

Some of his merits are: two-time ADCC Gold Medallist, two-time FILA No Gi Gold Medallist, IBJJF Black Belt No Gi Gold Medalist, Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Sports Fight Heavyweight Champion, ISKA (International Sport Karate Association) Heavyweight Champion, Pro Boxing record 2-1-0, Sprawl 'N Brawl Heavyweight Champion, XFC Heavyweight Champion, Strength & Honor Heavyweight Champion, Sengoku veteran, Pride FC veteran, DREAM FC veteran, Strikeforce veteran, UFC veteran.

The America can boast with wins over Roy "Big Country" Nelson, Sergei Kharitonov, Alexey Oleinik, Tony Lopez, Marcio Cruz, Travis Fulton, Ricco Rodriguez, Mark Kerr, Anthony Perosh, and Kazuyuki Fujita. Besides these, he has also fought Chuck Liddell, Forest Griffin, Tim Sylvia, Pedro Rizzo, Josh Barnett, and recently also MMA’s during long time undefeated heavyweight champion, Fedor Emilianenko. The American Top Team fighter went three rounds against Fedor and lost by unanimous decision for about six months ago.


Ilir is the young, hungry fighter who will do everything to show his home crowd what he is capable of, and Jeff is the distinguished, and experienced roughneck, who will never give a young fighter the opportunity to win the title. This is one of the greatest MMA bouts ever to take place in the Nordic countries and will attract international attention to the Swedish MMA market.
